English Cricket Team Helped Out By Big Brute Industries
Blytheswood CC team at the 2012 Chiang Mai Cricket Sixes Tournament in Thailand
Laurie Cheetham of Big Brute Industries, Australia, recently returned from playing in the Chang Mai Cricket Sixes tournament in Thailand for the second year.
Last year, the team Laurie was playing for, Blythswood CC, won the Spoon Division. This year, the committee moved us up to the Bowl Division.
Blythswood got as far as the semi-finals and lost that game to the eventual winner of the Bowl Division. In the semi-final, Darwin Postals made 79 and in reply Blythswood made 70. This was Blythswood’s highset score in all the time that they have been competing at the Chang Mai Cricket Sixes.
On the team's day off in 2011 we went to the Flight of the Gibbon, where you abseil about 20-40 metres from the ground between trees (I hope that you've recovered, Raj!).
On their day off this year, the team went out to a pistol shooting range and also to Tiger World for some photos.
The new playing shirts were more colourful this year and carried sponsors' logos. A big thank you to Raj for designing the playing strip.
After the cricket tournament, Laurie and Ian McIntosh went to visit the bridge over the river Kwai and also the infamous Hell Fire Pass on the Burma railway. Laurie and Ian said that after been taught the history of Hell Fire Pass at school it was quite a moving experience actually standing in the pass.
Upon returning back to Bangkok, Laurie and Ian met up with some other team members who had flown down to Bangkok from Chiang Mai for one last players' tea and flew back to Australia the next day.
It was another interesting experience with all the team together for the week once more and we look forward to coming back bigger and better in 2013.
